Using the Clipboard

Uses of the Clipboard in Course Designer

In Course Designer, the clipboard is used for three purposes:

  • Copying a text description of a course to or from an e-mail or other message.
  • Copying a course image to be pasted into another application.
  • Copying shapes from one course to another.

Only the third usage above will be covered here, since other usage of the clipboard is covered elsewhere.

Copying shapes from one course to another

To copy shapes from one course to another course:

  1. In the original course, select the shapes to be copied. For more information, see Selecting Shapes.
  2. Use the "Edit / Copy" menu item to copy the selected shapes to the clipboard.
  3. On the new course, use the "Edit / Paste" menu item to paste the shapes onto the new course.

It would be also be possible to also use copy and paste to create multiple copies of a shape on a course. However, it is easier to use the built-in features specifically designed for creating multiple copies of a shape. For more information, see Creating Shapes.

To move shapes from one course to another, follow the same instructions as above, but use the "Edit / Cut" menu item instead of the "Edit / Copy" menu item.
